Meet Billy - Managing Director of Create Education

Tell us more about your experience?

I worked in recruitment for 17 years starting out in industrial recruitment before transferring to education after 5 years and haven’t looked back. I started out in recruitment initially as it was a good balance of being office based and getting out to visit clients. As it was high volume and low margin the commission wasn’t an initial factor. However, when I transferred over to education and began to earn commission the job role became about making as much commission as possible as well as receiving some fantastic incentives.

Finally, as time went on I created Create Education and that coincided with my priority change, whilst it is still about making money it equally became about a desire to make a positive impact on the education sector and very much working in partnership with schools.

What do you do at Create Education?

My role as managing director is to drive the business forward and to create a positive brand within London. I am also responsible for inspiring my team ensuring that they are motivated and to lead by example.

What do you like most about your job?

Helping others with their careers is the heart of what we do here and to be honest when you, when we get positive feedback thanking us for our help, it really does justify all the hard work and effort that goes into doing this job day in day out.

When you’re not working, what are you most likely to be doing?

A few years ago, I would have said football, golf or socialising with the lads – now it is painting, colouring, playground testing and watching Peppa Pig along with every other cartoon on Netflix.

At school what were you most likely to be voted?

I would say the Class Clown, there was a group of us the continuously tried to make the rest of the class laugh rather than fully focusing on lessons. So it would come as no surprise that I actually did feature on a reality show on channel 4 which became the biggest hoax on television, so maybe they would have been half right.

What would your school report say about you?

I still have a few school reports hiding away somewhere and they are all a very similar read “Billy works hard and likes projects. Billy can be easily distracted and can sometimes be instrumental in distracting others, he works well in groups and is a confident character."
