My Background in Schools

Before venturing into the world of Education Recruitment, I worked in several different Primary, Secondary and SEN schools around Southeast London. I worked for a sports-based company that provides before and after school provision, lunchtime and PPA Cover as well as specialist school holiday provision.

During this time, I worked predominately in the boroughs of Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley and most of my time was spent in SEN schools of different kinds. I worked with students in schools that catered for ASD, ADHD, PMLD, Medical Needs and SEMH. While I enjoyed my time in every school I worked in, I found my speciality and home working in a SEMH, ASD and EBD environment. I found I connected with the students and understood their needs and the needs of the schools that were so amazing in supporting them.

Why the change into recruitment?

After 7 years working in every kind of school there is, I felt a need for a different challenge. The only logical step for me was to throw myself into an industry that would benefit from my knowledge of schools, especially SEN schools and Alternative Provisions.

Having worked in so many different SEN schools, in particular, I had seen agency recruitment done well but also done very, very badly. I have seen how much of an effect staffing has on students’ learning and education experience and how much of a positive or negative mark it can leave. I wanted to be a part of helping these outstanding schools find the staff to match, as well as help superhero staff find a school to suit their skills and experience, but most of all their career aspirations and passions.

Why Create Education?

I had worked for two different education recruitment companies before finding Billy and Create. Both were very different to each other and also couldn’t be further apart from what’s being built here at Create.

I have worked for the KPI driven sales agency experience and a company that decided to work solely and permanently from home. While both were fantastic companies, I found that working from home didn’t suit me. I wanted to be in an office bouncing off colleagues, cheering our successes and picking each other up from our setbacks. There is always 101 options in recruitment, but none that I have ever seen like Create Education. After meeting Billy for the first time, I had to work for him. It could’ve been in education recruitment, a bakery or a factory but he encapsulates what a positive, supportive and progressive working environment should be.

Create is what it says on the tin, and that is exactly what we do. It’s hardworking while being fun, breeds in all staff a level of expectation while being fair and is a group of colleagues in a work environment while being a family that has always got your back.

The future

I am delighted to be part of the growth of Create Education and am genuinely excited to see the company grow. I feel as if I’m part of something special with Create and I can’t wait to reach dizzy heights and to be able to say we’re making a real positive change in schools and for students across not only London but the UK. Create Education to the moon.
