The school caters to pupils aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.
This role would suit a teacher who can deliver Food Technology to small groups of pupils while contributing a second subject such as Art, Design Technology, PSHE, or Science. You’ll play a key role in developing pupils’ practical skills, independence, and confidence through a hands-on, creative, and functional curriculum.

Why Join the School?

Collaborative and Supportive Culture: Staff work closely with therapists, behaviour mentors, and support staff to provide a consistent, nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive.
Professional Development: You’ll receive access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with tailored pathways to progress your expertise within SEN, SEMH, and vocational education.

About the Role:

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that build pupils’ culinary knowledge, nutrition awareness, and independent living skills. You will inspire students to develop creativity, teamwork, and resilience through practical learning, linking food education to health, wellbeing, and employability.
You will be expected to:
  • Plan and teach engaging Food Technology lessons tailored to pupils’ individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Contribute a second subject area (e.g. Art, Design Technology, Science, PSHE, or similar).
  • Support pupils in developing independence, teamwork, and problem-solving through practical learning.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive classroom where all pupils feel valued and motivated to achieve.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to support holistic pupil progress.
  • Participate in enrichment and cross-curricular activities that enhance the wider school experience.
We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – ECTs are welcome to apply.
  • Has experience teaching Food Technology and ideally another subject area.
  • Understands or has experience working with SEN and SEMH learners.
  • Demonstrates creativity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for practical, skills-based teaching.
  • Is committed to inclusive education and to promoting personal growth and wellbeing for all pupils.
  • Possesses strong organisational and communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
What Ofsted Said About the School:
  • Pupils benefit from a broad, practical curriculum that promotes both academic progress and personal development.
  • Teachers and staff foster positive relationships that help pupils re-engage with learning and achieve success.
  • The school provides a safe, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to develop confidence and independence.
Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities:
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils. All applicants must adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies and undergo an enhanced DBS check.
