Year 7 Interventions and Class Support - Working at low key stage 1 level

Location: Dagenham
Pay: £105–£110 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Start date: Flexible, with an earlier start preferred
Duration: Long term for the right candidate

Create Education is recruiting an additional Teaching Assistant for a Year 7 progress class in a secondary school in Dagenham. Pupils in the class are working at around Key Stage 1 level and need support that meets them at their current stage of learning.
This role could be a great fit for someone with primary school experience who would like to use those skills in a secondary setting.

What you’ll do

• Provide in-class support to pupils with needs including Down syndrome, autism, ADHD and PDA.
• Deliver or support interventions using Colourful Semantics and Blank Level questioning.
• Support pupils with literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Adapt activities and explanations so pupils can take part in lessons and build confidence.
• Help pupils use assistive technology to access learning.
• Work with the teacher and wider SEND team to provide consistent support and share observations about pupils’ progress.

What we’re looking for
We would especially like to hear from candidates with experience supporting primary-aged pupils or children working at Key Stage 1 level. Experience delivering literacy, numeracy or speech and language interventions would be particularly valuable.
You’ll need to be patient, adaptable and comfortable supporting pupils with a range of needs in a secondary school classroom.
