I’m Ava from Create Education, and I’m working closely with a welcoming and inclusive school in Hackney that is looking to appoint a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. About the Role: This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive and nurturing setting, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, develop independence and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored support to students with SEN on a 1:1 or small group basis.
- Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
- Promoting a positive, calm and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assisting with personal care needs, where necessary, in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Monitoring and recording students’ progress, sharing insights with teachers and parents.
- Encouraging and motivating pupils to engage actively and confidently in their learning.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (in an educational or care setting).
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts or Sciences.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is calm, patient and adaptable, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
- Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
