I’m Ava from Create Education, and I’m working closely with a welcoming and inclusive school in Hackney that is looking to appoint a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This is a school that genuinely values its staff, prioritises pupil wellbeing and creates an environment where both students and adults can thrive.
About the Role: This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a supportive and nurturing setting, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, develop independence and reach their full potential.
Responsibilities include:
  • Providing tailored support to students with SEN on a 1:1 or small group basis.
  • Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Promoting a positive, calm and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assisting with personal care needs, where necessary, in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Monitoring and recording students’ progress, sharing insights with teachers and parents.
  • Encouraging and motivating pupils to engage actively and confidently in their learning.
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (in an educational or care setting).
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts or Sciences.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is calm, patient and adaptable, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
