Are you an experienced and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new opportunity in a welcoming primary school?
We are currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Romford, RM3. This is an ongoing position with the opportunity for an immediate start following a successful trial day.
The school has a strong focus on creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential. They are looking for someone who is caring, patient and committed to helping children with additional needs thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Supporting children to access the curriculum and engage positively with their learning.
  • Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and other learning needs.
  • Following individual support and learning plans.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop appropriate social and emotional skills.
  • Working closely with teachers and other members of the school team.
  • Creating a calm, positive and supportive environment where children feel safe and valued.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom where required.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Experienced working with children with SEN.
  • Caring, patient and nurturing.
  • Confident providing 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Able to build strong and positive relationships with children.
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • A strong team player who can work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to a full-time role.
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding and the importance of keeping children safe.
  • Ideally experienced within a primary school environment.
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential where you have strong, relevant SEN experience.
