Job Description:
SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School in Barnehurst
Location: Barnehurst, Bexley
Hours: 33 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
Working Hours: Monday 8:30am–5:15pm, Tuesday–Friday 8:30am–4:00pm
Contract: Full-time, term-time
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: TA, BEX 5.1: FTE salary is £29,433.67, which is pro-rated to an actual annual salary of £25,316.77.
Create Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Barnehurst to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant.
This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, motivated individual who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping every pupil reach their full potential.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils, teachers and the wider school team to provide targeted support with learning, engagement and personal development.
The successful candidate will be someone who understands the importance of building positive relationships with pupils, while maintaining clear boundaries and promoting a calm, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
You will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning through targeted interventions, encouragement and consistent support.

About You
The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:

  • Understanding of SEND and additional learning needs
  • Proactive and adaptable in their approach
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
  • Keen to develop professionally and learn new skills
Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable, although candidates with strong transferable experience and the right attitude will also be considered.
