SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary | Woolwich
Are you a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Woolwich seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive SEN Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to work with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing targeted 1:1 and small group support for children with a range of additional needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with the SEN team, class teachers, and wider school staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and independence, and fully access the mainstream curriculum.

Your Role

• Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN and additional learning needs.
• Work within the school's SEN Hub, supporting pupils both within the hub and, where appropriate, back in their mainstream classrooms.
• Support pupils with needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication and language needs, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
• Support pupils with literacy, numeracy, communication, social skills, and other areas of learning.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience, and positive relationships.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to support pupils' engagement and emotional regulation.
• Help pupils successfully transition between the SEN Hub, classroom, breaktimes, and other areas of the school.
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other members of the SEN team to deliver personalised support.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
• Contribute to monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records.
• Promote inclusion and ensure pupils are supported to access the wider school environment and curriculum.

What We're Looking For

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or in a similar educational support role.
• Experience supporting children with SEN and additional learning needs.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, communication needs, learning difficulties, or social and emotional needs is desirable.
• A good understanding of inclusive education and differentiated learning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic, resilient, and proactive approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a wider SEN and mainstream school team.
• A genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
